The IWHS Dance Team (The Dazzlers) brush off their dancing shoes at the freshman orientation for their first performance of the year.
“It was kind of nerve racking because we wanted to make a good impression, but when we no big mistakes, this made us feel like it was a good start off for the year,” said Co-Captain, Bianca Hernandez.
The freshmen loved the dance and more importantly made them want to try out for the team this September 6-8 to perform at the IWHS volleyball and basketball games, along with Central Catholic’s football and basketball games.
“We got a total of almost 30 girls sign up to come to tryouts, which will make us look even better at competition,” said Dance Team Coach, Meghan Dell.
The Dazzlers had been practicing not only a week before their performance, but also at a dance camp they attended from June 25-27 to keep their stretches and leaps in shape over the summer vacation.
“It was definitely tough work but it was also a lot of fun, and we learned a ton of new routines of all kinds of dancing that kept us in shape over the summer,” said Dazzler Brianna Cardenas.
The Dazzlers next performance will be September 14, 2007 at the IWHS Varsity volleyball game against Alamo Heights at 7:30. This performance will include a new group of faces performing for their first time.
“I am excited to perform with a bigger group of girls, because were all like a big family that has so much fun at every performance and practice, but most importantly I’m proud to support our fellow shamrocks,” said Dazzler Line Officer Stephanie Sanchez.
