Since the 1960’s garage bands have been emerging into the music scene. In the 1970’s and 1980’s it became more popular and normal, and now it has reached its peak of popularity. These bands have been thrashing around their instruments and voices just to get noticed.

The first garage bands were The Wailers, The Sonics, and The Trashmen. As garage rock progressed it inherited different types of music such as surf, frat and the British invasion influence. In the late 1960’s the more popular bands that took on the British influence were The Who, The Rolling Stones and The Pretty Things.

Nowadays it is easier to become noticed thanks to the internet. Many garage bands who want to become big use MySpace and other websites such as: Purevolume, Pandora, Imeem and more. The internet has allowed many garage bands to become very popular, very fast.

Elissa Grimes says, “I like garage bands because the guys are almost always gorgeous doesn’t matter if the band rocks.”

Bands such as Sins Like Stars, Blackout, Run Kid Run and Mae are getting more popular from these sites. Bands like Hellogoodbye and Boys Like Girls have already gotten popular from MySpace. Many songs have a catchy tune because they repeat the same three chords. Garage music has various categories such as grunge, alternative, techo, ska, indie, punk and more.

Garage rock will never die because there is too much heart put into the music.
