“The Academy Is…” moving on

These rockers from Chicago are on their way up in the musical standings. William Beckett is the lead singer, Michael Carden is the lead guitarist, Adam T. Siska is the bassist, Andy Mrotek is the drummer and Michael Guy Chislett is the second guitarist. They have been making their way to the top since the beginning of the 21st century.

Unlike their former album “Almost Here,” Santi” is more rock than alternative rock. They pick up the beat and different chords in the first couple of songs, then slow it down with the song “Everything We Had”. “Bulls in Brooklyn”, “Neighbors” and “We’ve Got a Big Mess” are must hears; the lyrics are amazing and the music is upbeat.

In “You Might Have Noticed” Andy Mrotek pumped up the beat with his great drumming skills. William Beckett’s voice mellowed out the songs unlike in the former CD where he made the music pop. The lyrics are imaginative and descriptive.

Overall the CD is upbeat and entertaining. This band is simply amazing and you should check them out when they come into town on October 2nd at the White Rabbit.
