Mother Theresa followers still devoted after a decade

Through out the world, in many countries, from India, to the United States, to England, masses of people joined together to mourn the death as well as celebrate the life of the late Mother Theresa. Many of these people are as much devoted to this renowned Catholic nun, as they were at the time of her death, a decade ago.

It was in 1931 when Mother Theresa, then Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, first took her vows as a nun. From that time to her death on September 5, 1997, Mother Theresa had many accomplishments. Some include serving as a Sister of Loreto, going on to form the Missionaries of Charity, developing hospices, orphanages, and spread her mission through out many parts of the world.

Although during the ten years since her death there have been celebrations and services held in her honor, none have been quite as significant as some this past 10th anniversary. In Calcutta, India, for example, the city in which most of her charity work was done, thousands came together to celebrate and remember with mass and candlelight processions.

Her popularity has grown despite her death, especially with the recent media and controversy surrounding her recently published “Mother Theresa: Come Be My Light” in which she writes on her life and occasional doubts of God.

But for many, this still does not change their opinion of her. They continue to take the time, ten years later, to remember the life of a giving, legendary woman destined for sainthood.
